I often dream of returning to my childhood home.

In my dreams, nothing has changed since the moment I left, and for two decades, no one has set foot inside.

No one but my dog, who has been waiting twenty years to be taken for a walk.

G-spot of the Jungle

I had a dream that I went to Hawaii with my brother. When the trip was over I flew back home, but then I realized that my brother had been left behind. Apparently he had gone to some weird island to find the “G-spot of the Jungle” which was named as such due to all these crazy drugs that grew there naturally. So I had to buy a super expensive plane ticket back to Hawaii so I could save him from the jungle.

Too Much Dead Island?

I must have been playing too much Dead Island, because all night I dreamed that I was taking out zombies. At one point I (lucidly) thought that this was going to turn into a nightmare, but it never did. I was kicking ass.

When my alarm clock went off and I couldn’t figure out how to snooze it, I kept thinking ” This is such a stupid quest. The timing is all wrong! I just want to kill these zombies!”

Good Night Monkey

I’m in my parents house and I’m getting ready to go to sleep. I realize there’s a light on in the basement so I go down to shut it off. I see that in the back room there’s what appears to be a dead monkey laying on a table. It’s weird, but I assume that this monkey is my dad’s helper for when he’s doing home improvement projects. Anyway, I don’t really want to be bothered with a dead monkey, but then it starts to move. So now the monkey is awake but I want to go to bed, so I try to just close him in the basement til morning, but he opens the door and starts to run amok in the house. It gets hazy from there, but shenanigans ensue.

His Hand in Marriage

I dreamed that my husband was in a horrible accident at work and all that was left of him was his hand. It was alive though, like Thing from Adams Family.

He was completely obnoxious as a hand. It had only been one day and I was sure I wouldn’t be able to handle this for long. When I cooked, he’d keep sticking his fingers in the food. When I went shopping, he perched on my shoulder and randomly stuck his finger in my ear to make me jump. At home, he’d jump out of no where and scare the crap out of me.

It was quickly growing old. I was contemplating divorcing my husband but wasn’t sure if you could divorce just the hand of your spouse.

Finally the day came to an end and I tried to go to sleep. It was hard to sleep though because my husband kept jumping around the bed and tickling me through the covers.

I wondered if stabbing a hand to death would carry the death penalty.

I dreamed an episode of Battlestar Galactica. It went like this:

Sam was a boxer and he had a big fight coming up against this opponent that would surely kill him so he was trying to get out of it.

He goes to Dee for advice. She suggests that he invite Adama to the fight because it would have to be postponed in order to fit his busy schedule.

Then, for reasons that made sense at the time, Dee starts detailing all these way to undermine women. Somehow this was going to help him with the fight. Meanwhile he’s wondering why a woman would suggest such sexist tactics and as she talks he imagines her with a goatee.

Mr. Mario Didn’t Wash His Hands

Over at Kotaku, writer Stephen Totilo recalls a conversation with Josh Bear, creator of Ms. ‘Splosion Man:

“I don’t dream of hot girls,” Bear told me as he recalled the dream last week at Game Developer’s Conference, “I dream of Miyamoto taking a dump.”

In the dream, as Bear tells it, Miyamoto gets off the toilet, wipes, then gives Bear a hug. Bear, who is also a video game designer in real life though not one who has yet reached Miyamoto’s heights, sees the scene from overhead, but somehow reaches the great Nintendo creator’s level when it’s time for their manly embrace.

Bear thinks the dream might have something to do with a young game designer seeking the approval of an iconic one.

Shigeru Miyamoto is the creator of many successful game franchises including Zelda, Mario, and Donky Kong. Read the rest.
